Your progress over January, your first month as our colleague, has been very good. I am pleased to note that you have settled in well (and ****** has helped you in that sense, as you helped him when he went to Dr ****'s lab), and have helped with the service work, doing your fair share of the NAT screening. That is a very sensitive test, and highly susceptible to the slightest of changes in reagent quality and endogenous/exogenous inhibitors, as you have found out through trial and error. We expected a few blips (and repeats) but overall, you have adapted to service work very well. In addition, partly due to **'s misfortune in losing his grandmother last week, you have also helped out (almost seamlessly) with the norovirus diagnostic work, and have picked up a couple of positive cases.
I will be very interested in hearing about the work you are doing on the HAdV and hope that with ******'s guidance, you will be able to work out and optimise conditions for a real-time PCR assay, and clinically validate it for diagnostic use (and perhaps even publish a small manuscript on your findings). Please do keep me informed about your daily work, and wherever possible, I will give my feedback.
I have not forgotten about your expressed wish to register for an M.Sc. -- for that, you will be working closely with Dr ****, as agreed prior to your joining us. Have you started on that project already, or do you want me to ask him for an update? I will support you, in spirit and in all other aspects, including giving you some time off to go to his lab to do certain critical experiments.
Thank you for your efforts and excellent attitude in your first month with us. I look forward to working with you for many more years. Hope you had some meaningful reunion with your family during the CNY break. Happy Niu Year,

Should i buy Mario Kart Wii? $89!
We went to watch The Wedding Game at GV. Its a nice and funny show but i dun like. LOL! Maybe i too tired le. Las nite so sian, i chiong back to NUH at 10+ after i finished bathing to check whether there were any patient samples being left behind in the lab. If left overnite, the samples cant be used anymore lo so no choice la. Luckily dad drove me to NUH and back which took ard 45mins. If i took MRT and bus by myself i tink will take 2hrs lo.. ZzzzZzz. Anyway back to the movie, cos Merry she sot de. Wan go watch movie still wear so little den somemore never bring sweater or wad. She even say me y nv bring jacket for ger, i was like dots... Ownself nv bring sweater still shoot me. Somemore, is she say wan go watch movie de funny right? IN de end, she jus put her arms ard my arms and pull me closer. I was like so awkward lo cos my body was slanting leh.. Too sudden somemore, where got a ger so auto will pull a guy towards her de. So i actualli got stunned by her action and my whole body was like frozen and stiffed and tired cos i was actualli forcing my body to maintain slanted so that not my whole body was against hers. But in de end i gave up and leaned on her shoulder cos i noe her personality is like buddy buddy de so should be okay la. And she has bf de so we are jus good frens. But in de end, i realli too tired le. I fell aslp halfway and woke up abt 20mins b4 de movie ended. Merry said i slp till very cute cos my head and body were like separated. Head slanting in de opposite direction with the body. LOL!
Actuali b4 the movie, we walked ard JP while waiting for the movie to start. She was lookin for some skin care products in de shop. She actualli bent her body 90 degrees to look at the products. Since she was oni wearing a low cut top and in front of us got a bunch of guys outside its like super dangerous lo! I realli scare she zhou guan lo.. So i jus stood infront of her to block the view, pretending to talk to her and pull her up. Quite pro right? Den accidentally (its realli accident ok..), i go look at her top again.. Im tinking how come she wore tis top like no wear lidat de. Den i realised she was looking at me and i was lookin at her top. And she said "What are u looking at?" ZzzzzZzzz... My face str8 became red and said "nuthing.." Damn xia suay leh..
AFter de movie, i escorted her to take taxi and i went to pioneer mall shop to check out the price of Mario Kart Wii. Wa kao, de game costs $89 with a steering wheel. In de end i went back home and slp. LOL!

15th Jan 09, a 25 years old A-STAR Scholarship winner committed suicide after he was rejected 2nd time by his China "girl" friend.How do you feel after reading tis report?
To speak de truth, im really quite frustrated by his action. To take own life away so easily for a ger... No matter how much i pitied him, i still cannot force myself to sympathize with wad he had done.
Why?
First, for a ger, he forgot abt his family. Wad abt his aged father and mother? His father and mother had been working hard to earn money to support him and even his studies. So why would u end ur life without tinking abt ur parents?? You realli break their hearts. Even tou they may not show or even tell other ppl how sad they are now... But tink of these facts.
1. Their own son had left them bcos of a China ger!!
2. A China ger is even more valuable than their own son's life!!
Are u realli sure that they are not heart broken? Tink again. Above are jus 2 facts, there are even more tings which can be listed out.
U fail...
Secondly, for a ger, u forgot abt Singapore. U are wasting our tax-payers' money for studies and scholarships. We are waiting for u to come back to serve the country with ur knowledge. Yet, for a ger, u jus threw your life away... Jus lidat.. Why?
Fail.
Thirdly, for a ger, u forgot abt how precious one life is. How can u simply discard a healthy life jus lidat? Alot of ppl are yearning for a life like yours!! To be knowledgable, to be sought after by the government, having a bright future, free from disabilities and disease, blah blah..
U fail again..
Basically, u jus screwed up your life. To relieve your own suffering, u chose to take ur own life. Creating even more suffering and sadness among other ppl like your parents, relatives, ur "best" friend, ur "girl" friend and even fellow Singaporeans.
FAILED
Im realli quite pissed off by such a silly decision made by a "supposedly highly intelligent" human being.. However, as i tink more abt it, i tink i can understand why did he jump.
Maybe bcos of stress? All his life, he was under alot of stress to do and study well and he had been de top student of the schools. Maybe his 25 years of life had been smooth and successful, he had never faced any rejections or failures before? Maybe tis was the first time he got whacked hard 2x in a row? First, he got rejected and his "girl" friend loves his "best" friend. Love is realli like a double edged sword. It can either help u or hurt u. Wen it wants to hurt u, it is able to make u blind and tink of nuthing else except love. Oni wen ur buddies or family give u 1 tight slap den u may be able to wake up your bloody idea.
Having a perfect life will not benefit us afterall. Oni wen we fell down den we will hab the chance to become stronger. Oni wen there are challengers den we will be able to become better.
Its realli sad that Singapore lost a talented man. I firmly believed that he will be able to contribute alot to Singapore if he will to be around.

Wahahahaha!! 2009 is a really good year!! At least for now to me.Theres so many happy things happening currently.
Eg:
I got a new job.
I got many new, pretty and frenli colleagues. Yea, in de entire MDC, theres oni 2 guys, the rest are all gers.
I got a new hp.
I got my performance bonus, 13th month bonus and my dec salary (normally A-STAR do not give pro-rated performance bonus to staffs who left b4 April, but our boss helped us fight for it ^^).
I managed to learn a new hybridisation technique in my new workplace, Molecular Diagnosis Centre aka MDC in NUH on nucleic acid testing and my results are okay for now (no contamination and perfect results within jus 4 days in MDC, my efforts had paid off..).
My ex boss had discussed with my new boss on my Master study project.
My new boss is asking me to apply for Master course study scholarship which is specially for MDC staffs. (But dun tink im gonna apply for it since it will be more stress on me to do well in my study and research).
I had new motivation to proceed on with my Master project as the completion of the new detection system will help patient to save costs. I am unable to disclose wad de new detection is abt as currently the de oni detection system is a commercial kit which is super expensive and being monopolised by a particular well known company for the past few years. Now we are goin to come up with an even cheaper and faster detection kit to compete with them. As we all know, if there is competition, prices will be changed. At de start, i seriously do not hab any motivation to take tis project as my Master's project since my main area of interest is on Avian Flu, H5N1. But now since i have the motivation, im gonna go for it as its for the benefits of the patients in Singapore.
I got my life back and im free! For the past 2 years, my life were revolved ard Maple Story. I guess im finally out of this virtual world. Strangly, the trip to Japan actualli helped me alot. Now i wanted to go out with frens and newly made frens. Hopefully, i will be able to meet up with Salini, Ferina and Mandy by tis year.
I got a new Japan fren. Yup, i get to know her from my trip to Hokkaido. LOL! Now, we are communicating via Email. Hopefully, i can go back to Japan soon to meet up with her again.
I may get to know a new fren but tis will be different from the rest. She saw my profile in SDU, Lovebytes (which is like 1 year plus ago and im not a member. I even forgot my login id and pw ==" since my lost login is de time which i created a profile. LOL!!) and sent me a email jus yesterday. I saw her frenster and shes seemed nice. Shes oso a Bachalor of Science. Hmmm.. wad a coincidence? Its like we may have someting in common to talk about after all. The SDU email is like a goverment email which end with .gov.sg. Someting like workplace, MOE or Army email. Seriously, thats super scary lo. When i first saw the email address and de contents inside, i was tinking did this person send a wrong email to a wrong person using a wrong email address. LOL! Imagine i use A-STAR email address to reply her...
However, life is unpredictable. You may get all de happy moments at de start of de new year but do not let that bring down ur awareness and alertness. As the bad moments may be lurking around in 2009 to make you fall down flat on the ground with no mercy.

Wads happening to our future generation?!?!?!?
It was truly a memorable trip of my 25 years of life on this mother Earth.
And she was kind to me too since tis was my 2nd overseas trip. Well, apparently, tis year was termed as a warm winter. Hence the opportunity of seeing snow fallin down from the sky is abt 10%? On our first day, we landed in Tokyo-Narita on the 24th of Dec which was not supposed to see any snow. We flew to Hokkaido on the 2nd day which we oni managed to see rain but there were actualli large amt of snow piled up along the sides and on the trees. (LOL??) However, on the 3rd day which was the start of our snow activities such as snow tube, snow mobile and snow shoe walk, snow started to fall!! That was the day when Japan experienced a snow storm and all planes had to be delayed for a day (back and to) which we being the lucky batch din got affected at all.
I managed to take some photos along the way using my hp which was uploaded in my frenster.

Truout the whole was fun and fulfilling except for a off ting. 1 japanese guy from Kobei actualli came to talk to me while im taking photo of 3 xmas trees. Luckily, my sis and cousin came to my rescue. I quickly said good bye and walked off to continue my photo taking spree. Yea, if a japanese ger was to talk to me instead... I guess u all would have know wad will be my rxn rite? LOL! Anyway, boss actualli told me to b careful of guys coming to talk to me b4 hand..
He said that to them i am "TASTY" ==" (WTF??)
Anyway, lets move on to the topic itself.
I actualli read my sis's blog after i went back to Sg.. (Fug tub man... the weather in Sg was so dammn hot...) Btw, i tink im de oni guy in the whole tour grp who was not scare of the cold in Hokkaido (in fact, it was realli very cold) and we experienced moderate snow storm while we were walkin to the top of a snow hill for our snow activities. Every time wen there was a strong wind, ppl will start to wobble left and right or even fell down. However, i can actualli walked up the hill easily. Another situation was we had to wear a snow shoe and walked 1 round ard a path. Everyone complained that it was a tiring sport after the walk but i din feel anyting at all. (LOL? Perhaps my nite sprint for the last few weeks really work miracles on me. Oh ya.. i managed to clock a silver timing for my 2.4km run for my reservice IPPT tis year. I had failed my 2.4km on the previous attempt. Now its time to aim for my gold timing once again.)
Ok back to my sis blog... To my horror.. i seriously cant believed nowadays "all" the youngsters are so shallow in their point of view.
How shallow are them? "Them" refers to my sis and some gers.
Basically, they blogged thing without thinking. My sis is still okay.. Jus that some of de ting i had to explain to her which im jus too lazy to do so. F3
Lets talked abt these "bunch" of gers instead. Notice i used "bunch" which i tink that im already kind enuff to use such a word to describe them.
So there was this guy, a lovable guy by all these so called "pretty", "rich", "vain", "jealous" and blah blah blahs gers. I am seriously interested to find out how gorgeges is he but it seems that he closed wadever blog he had. So this lovely guy steaded with this so called "ugly", "act cute", "twitish", "fat" and blah blah blah ger. All these terms are quoted from the bunch of gers' blog. Thats how they actualli described her in their blogs. SO they were actualli frustrated on why such a "handsome", "lovely", "wonderful", "gentle" and blah blah blah prince decided to stead with a "Pig" instead of them!! (Pig was oso quoted from them)
Wow wow wow, i mus realli say to this guy. Good job man... But oni if he was realli truly in love with the ger who was labelled as a "Pig" by others.
However, if tis guy is actualli tryin to test and show off to other guys that how crazy are these 4 gers in love with him. I can oni say... good luck man. Seriously, no guy will even care abt your accomplishments bah since those 4 gers actualli smoke, drink, club at an illegal age.
I am actaulli neutral for tis kind of ting since its none of my biz afterall. (Well, i hab to set an example myself rite since i always asks ppl to dun kpkb wen u duno the whole issue in my blog oso. LOL!!) But im not actualli tryin to come into their bgr issue, im more into their attitudes in their blog. They are being too shallow until all their blog materials can actualli be used as a tool against them in de real world.
This is known as cyber bullying.
Im not here to judge anyone as its seriously none of my biz which was also why no detailed info was given here.
Side track abit... Actualli i wanted to discuss more on bless's comment on my tag board but i am jus plain too lazy to update my blog ><"

If i dun judge someone, she/he wun even get to noe that she/he had changed. Why bother to judge someone wen she/he had changed for the better? Why even bother to judge someone if she/he was not someone who matters to me?
Its realli sad to say that now wad i hope to find in my partner is quite rare or close to extinction. Tis sound bias. LOL!! But i duno leh its realli de truth wad unless u know your partner during your school days.
