How to start... First, moi desktop was spoilt las week and moi lappy failed mi de following day. As a result, i was unable to online fer de past 1 week. I was telling witchyjan that my lappy hard disk gort a "Grr...Grr.." sound and lidat, moi lappy crashed and not able to go in again.. =.= So brought it to toshiba service center in NUS. Nid more den 1 week to repair it.. Sian. Somemore, i nv backup moi data and all moi stuffs all gone. SAD~~Bought a new desktop on Sat and will update a photo of my new desktop later bah ^^ Guess wad name did i give to moi new desktop? Give ya 3 seconds to ponder.

Today i actually blushed wen a sec sch ger stood beside mi on the bus home ==" Trying very hard to control my face expression. I duno y but definitly not bcos i like her ar.I tink was bcos she suddenly stood beside me instead of following her frens (all guys and super noisy ==") to the back of the bus. So i abit stunned wen out of the grp of bois suddenli a ger popped out. I was staring at the guys (cos they noisy!! And one guy kip scoldin vulgar b4 they board the bus) wen suddenly realised was looking at a ger. So paiseh.. So blushed lo.. Mus b!!
But hor, de ger very kawaii ehz.. When i was alighting and saw her using hand signs to communicate with her fren. Dots.. dun tell mi she is cannot hear or tok those kind de? (Lik noriko act in heaven coin de nurse) Anyway.. ya. Today quite paiseh la.
Guess wad??
I gort yuka's letter le!! Mayb later will start riting bah since next week exam le so mus rite back de letter tonight and buy stamp tomoro.

Marina bay is being designed as the area which will be responsible in transforming SG into a global city. With the help of the tangibles:1. International resort which houses several global brand name shops and resorts, not forgetting the upcomming casino in SG.
2. A business and financial district within the Marina which will form de finance and business hub of SG to attract the transnationals and world tourists.
3. The re-knowned "Durian" of SG or Theatre by the bay, the Esplanade which serves as the arts and cultural hub of SG to attract the expressive specialists and with the hope of culturing the locals and transformed the "heart landers" into a cultural and artistic comospolitans (if possible entrepreneurs) as SG become a global city in the next millenium.
4. Now, our own world class garden by the bay which 4 separate gardens are distributed in 4 areas particular near to the commercial and finance districts, showing to the world that SG is not jus a work work work environment and there are gardens which provide a sense of place and identity for the white collar working classes and foreign talents within their own workplaces. Not to neglect that de flora will be imported from various tropical and maybe even temperate countries to be incoporated into the gardens, taken care by care specialists. Such an act will further bring down the warm temperature faced in the concrete city, allowing a cool and scenic work experience for the working classes, booasting the economic performance.
Will SG b really known as the Global Garden City? Mayb..

Woot!! MM Lee tok abt de nid to attract high end patients to SG which will in turn booast our medical advances and hope to improve de public medical skills and services. Furthermore, theres a concern that our own medical talents may b lost if all de patients are attracted to de private sector instead of de public sector. Therefore, theres a nid to ensure that our public medical service and technology are competent and even much better den de private sect.Guess tis global medical hub is oso linked to de tourism landscape as high end patients comming to SG will bring in large avenues such as de flight to SG, de medical and living expenses in SG, mayb de patient's family will be here for a tour and etc etc. Jus lik de global education hub tingy.
Now we have so mani hubs in SG, gort medical hub, got biomedical hub, got education hub, got arts and culture hub, got finance and commercial hub and duno gort any others anot..
Wow!! Guess SG will eventually b acknowledged as a truly GLOBAL CITY within Asia in de long run along with its global-local tensions.

Survival of SG in the Future?
Reading tru one reading for lecture 7 and realised that one of the most important factor resulting in present day SG's success is due to the deep "futuristic" planning by the government of PAP.
Few egs to illustrate my pts are:
1. The need to focus on the economic viability of SG after Aug 1965 which seems to be the only path to be untaken rather than Defense or Education or Housing which required finance. (Can't imagine whats the results be like if the government focus on Defense 1st.. Soldiers wearing "Salong", holding on to blunt "parang" and riding on "trishaw" to protect and maintain the sovereignity of SG against enemies of "proper uniform", "rifles" and "tanks".)
2. The language policy change (1979-1997) on the requirement to learn 2 languages which are English and Mandarin (bilingual). English as the main working language in order to survive in the global westernised world and Mandarin in order to act as a counter for us to remain rooted to our own asian identity. Also, mandarin was chosen on consideration of China which has a prospect in the future economy. (Y not trilingual?? since China n India are the 2 giants in today's East Asia economic landscape?)
3. The CPF policy which ensures that retired Sporean are not "financially dependent" on their children. Not that it is a success but at least the "load" is lighter..
4. This pt is the the last pt which i hope that can bring abt some discussions down here. (of coz, there r stil alot of other sound plannings by the PAP n it will be great if others can discuss down here oso.)
Every changes in the policy made by the government are after some future plannings. Classic egs are:
i. (1965-1979) from import substitution to export orientation. With signs of Electronic industry deciding to move offshore to cut down on wage expenses, PAP initiated by opening our door n welcoming these Trans-National Companies (TNCs) to create a niche on SG.
ii. (1980s) restructuring from low wage-labour intensive to high wage, high skilled industries in order to attract high value industries. With the gradual opening up and growing of the 2 giants in East asia, PAP realised tt in the long run, SG will not be able to compete with these 2 highly populated countries for low cost industries. Thus, for the need to attract the high value industries instead.
These 2 policies changes were highly significant in the maturing of our economy n eventually the success of SG which we have discussed abt in tutorial 3.
However, the discussion i would like to bring abt here (finally!! phew..) is whether SG will be able to SURVIVE ECONOMICALLY in the future (in terms of geographical timescale) when most of the developing countries particularly China and India, become developed just like us?
Is there a chance for us (small size and population, greying population, lack of land and resources, lack of Entrepreneurs, local TNCs, etc..) at all if that day do arrive? Or the SG we known of (also a global brand name by itself) will be lost just like other great history of dynasties which had thrived, flourished and eventually their downfall?
I can't really c what's the future be like for SG in the future (anyone?? ) but one thing i do know for sure is that even "IF" SG does become "extinct" in the future, im still proud of SG. Future generations of the world will stil know the existance of such a "Great City" in the past through history textbooks. "The Lost City: Singapore", "The Great SG City" (Mayb??)

Summer Snow (Japan Drama)
Just finished watching an old Japan drama called Summer Snow. Not finished the whole drama, I just watched the last episode as it was the most touching part of the whole story. Acted by Ryoko Hirosue & 堂本刚(Kinki Kids). The drama in Jap is known as Natsumo Yuki: Natsumo meaning Summer and Yuki meaning Snow. The meaningful part is that Natsu is actually the name of the male character (堂本刚) and Yuki is the name of the female character (Ryoko Hirosue). The theme song is called Summer Snow by 7 Angels and the song lyrics are also related to the story.
That is why I like this drama a lot even though I dislike Ryoko Hirosue. So what is the meaning of summer snow? It means that there is a kind of snow that falls only during the summer times deep in the ocean. The story was very touching but also very violence I must say.. LoLx!!The most touching part is when Yuki found out that the heart that was transplanted to her was actually from Natsu who had died from protecting a child with his body from an incoming bike.
Seriously, I had no idea that this drama had actually became a "ghost" drama when Natsu turned out to be a ghost looking after Yuki when she was in the hospital recovering after the transplantation. It was only during the last part when he suddenly disappeared while Yuki is preparing some tea for him then I realized that there is a possibility that Natsu had already died from bike accident. The finale was interesting when Yuki went diving with Natsu brother and eventually saw the magnificent scene of Summer snow in the deep blue sea and the scene ended with Natsu and Yuki seeing the snow falling in the sea together. Well, this is called heart 2 heart (心连心)。
Basically, the whole storyline is almost the same as Heaven' interesting.
What can we learn from this drama? This drama actually has one theme that was being discussed throughout the whole drama. That is 'Life is precious' and we should always cherish it. Whether it is a newborn or a cancer patient, it is always a blessing to be able to live for another day. So do not think of giving up your life when there are so many sick or not so fortunate people around the world trying to live for another day.
P.S: Hope that the 20+ survivors trapped under the land slide in Philippine since 3 Dec can be rescued ASAP.

Yesterday nite so funny. Went to take a rest at 00.00am and set moi alaram to wake mi up at 00.30am. But i always set wrongly =.= I set it as 12.30pm. Dots.. So i jus slp slp slp all the way to 3.20am when i was awakened by a funny dream!! I dreamt of patrick a sch mate of moi sec sch in nus canteen. And he was asking mi whether i will be bringing along my lap report to the office. I asked him y?(In the first place, im quite puzzled as he should not b in nus as he's in de army) He replied that tomoro is de dateline in sumitting lap report. I was like stunned!! As de dateline for lab report is extended to next wednesday. So ya... Lidat i woke up =.= Anyway, he's moi saviour as i haben finished studying nucleotides metabolism and i managed to read finised the notes as i continued to study. Anyway, today test got got average results since i use 1 day to study all de 3 topics =.=
Sad.. im slacking and i dun even noe until i got back all moi CA results. "A" grade is seemed to b unattainable to mi now. And i told myself wads done hab been done. Now i shall have to put in all moi best for de finals which is lik 1 week time. Aiming to score at least B+ for all subjects as its de only way to pull up moi cap score. Any grade below B will kill mi.
Las nite was mass sending good nite sms to moi frens and i almos sent it to LR. Luckily, i managed to stop myself. If not, i really dunno how to explain wen she smsed back and asked mi who am i... I gort her number and yet i dun even dare to tok to her. Sad sad.. Y moi weakness mus b LR? Y cant i jus behave in de same way to u as i tok to other gers? Anyway today asked JH is LR still contacting him. He said rarely. But he confirmed that she nv changed her number. So lucky ar las nite.. But i gort a bad news from him, alot of ryan's frens are asking abt LR oso.. Sian liao.. I duno so many ppl lik LR sia.. Mayb no chance le bah after she graduated from nus and i din take that opportunity. Somemore, elgar tried to help mi oso.
